Through a partnership with the YMCA of Walla Walla, Sherwood Trust sponsors an annual one-day workshop on topics selected by our design committee to benefit the community.
An innovative approach to understanding the lived experience of others
In this interactive session, the presenter will develop a human sculpture in order to explore the dynamics of racial identity development. Participants will contribute to the sculpting exercise and learn more about how to interact and work with people from different life experiences. Participants will have the opportunity to explore their own racial identity and identify ways in which they can promote positive, although sometimes challenging, conversations around race.
This program is presented by Dr. Joy Hoffman, Director of Diversity Initatives & Resource Centers at California State University, Fullerton.
